Alloy Steel 4140 Foil consists of iron, 0.38-0.43% carbon, 0.75-1.00% manganese, 0.15-0.35% silicon, 0.80-1.10% chromium, and 0.15-0.25% molybdenum, possessing superior strength and toughness. It possesses a tensile strength of around 655 MPa, a yield strength of 415 MPa, and an elongation of 25%, and is thus very durable and resistant to wear. With a hardness of 197-237 HB, it offers superior machinability and weldability. This foil of alloy steel is extensively employed in aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications with the guarantee of enhanced performance at high-stress and high-temperature conditions.
